Loopception vol. 01
Loopception is a deeply personal project that marks a significant chapter in my musical journey, exploring the fusion of jazz and contemporary music through the innovative use of the loop station.
Throughout this EP recording project, I delve into the intricacies of the Boss RC-505mkII loop station, a device that has revolutionised my approach to music. The project documents my first-hand experiences as I learn to manipulate this complex tool, transforming my vocal performances into layered, richly textured soundscapes. Each track on the EP—ranging from reinterpretations of songs like Sting’s "Fragile" to collaborations with the BSU Gospel Choir in "Love, Love, Love" and with my band Sabrina & and the Relatives with the jazz standard "Blue Skies"—illustrates a different aspect of how loop technology can enhance and expand the expressive potential of vocal music.
01. Fragile
Fragile, a beloved classic by Sting, marks the beginning of my exploration into how this songs can be transformed through modern looping techniques. Employing the Boss RC-505mkII loop station, I deconstructed this tune into its elemental sounds, then reassembled it layer by layer, introducing a new dimension of texture and emotion. This reinterpretation not only pays homage to the original's poignant message but also ventures into new sonic territories, showcasing the loop station's capacity to enhance and expand the narrative depth of vocal music. Join me in experiencing this innovative blend of classic sensibility and contemporary execution!
